When playing misic on computer i only hear the music not the lyrics..?

i've noticed that when playing sound bites or tv shows online... i can hear the music fine.. but the vocals too low to hear or sounds like "gremlins" in there! no other way to explain... how can this be tested or better yet, fixed? please if you have an idea, share it... thank you
