What could Kat be short for on a boy?

A single mom just moved recently into our neighborhood with a young boy, maybe about 5 or so. We are having a neighborhood picnic for July 4 weekend and when she signed up for it, she put her son's name down as Kat. I am wracking my brains trying to think what this could be short for and come up with nothing so far. Any suggestions?
