Can I cook my homemade pasta dumplings in cider or juice?

I enjoy cooking them in sauerkraut or in boiling water and serving them with thickened cherries or sauteed apples and browned er. I'd like to try cooking it directly in cider but don't want to ruin a batch. I've haven't found any recipes that would show me someone has done this successfully.
